How to get your workout done during a busy December

November 27, 2017

Got a busy December ahead of you? Keep reading, this post is for you!

Christmas parties, shopping, cleaning - you name it, December is just full of activities and to do's. Here's how you get your exercise done regardless the busy month.

1. Find your motivation

Remind yourself of all the health benefits you get from being active. Read these articles straight away if you haven't already; 10 reasons to exercise and 150 minutes a week is enough. Firstly, working out will give you energy to do everything that needs to be done. Secondly, exercise increases your chances of staying healthy, so that you can enjoy Christmas when it finally comes. And last but not least, all that food will taste so much better if you've been active.

2. Adapt your expectations

Have a look at your busy calendar, and try and be realistic about how much time you can spend on exercise. Adjust your expectations, cause it's a lovely feeling reaching a target. Also, it's much easier to get your workout done if the idea of the exercise seems doable and feels good. Something is better than nothing should be your December motto when it comes to exercise.

3. Exercise in your everyday life

Why not try to exercise as a way of transport? Walk, cycle, or jog to wherever your're going.

Another idea - make your chores your workout - change to your workout clothes, and get down and get dirty. Other days you can try to workout at home, cause it doesn't really matter what you do, as long as you get your body going. In fact, just by standing up every now and then, you're doing good for your health. In short: do anything that feels good; a bit of dancing at home, try a fitness video, do some push ups and crunches, play with your kids or just skip about a bit.

Good luck!
